I’m Carl. A 50 something guy who likes fencing, Blizzard games, teaching my youngest daughter about life skills and being a semi-retired taxi service for the family. I’m the go to find it person in the house as I tend to be able to find anything that’s lost. I live with my wife and youngest daughter in Oregon with our two cats for now.
I grew up in a small town in Ohio where life was pretty simple. I joined the army after high school at 17 to spend a few years blowing things up. I have a son and a daughter who are older and out of the house and one younger daughter that’s still at home. I have another son who we sadly lost before he was born due to complications. I have four grand kids as well, three girls and a boy and a fifth on the way, all of whom I don’t see nearly enough because we live so far apart. That bothers me at times and I’m hoping as they grow older that they can arrange a few weeks in the Summers at grandfasha’s house.
I’m an atheist and pretty outspoken about it at times. I don’t mind that others aren’t on the same page as me about the god stuff as death is a scary thing and most people seem to need to believe that there’s something after we die. I don’t need that kind of comfort personally but I understand that others might.
I’ve seen a lot of my friends pass away which is something that I think about from time to time. Those who are gone I tend to remember. My parents have both passed and I don’t really talk to my three siblings any more. We are so completely different that it just seems more hassle than it’s worth at this stage of our lives.
I don’t really do much in the way of a job anymore but I’ve done a lot of different jobs in my life. I’m currently working part time (next to no actual time) as a fencing instructor for the local city parks and rec department. I am looking for a job though, and will need one soon as there are life changes in the works.
I’m thinking about starting another business in the future, but haven’t really decided what that may be. I’m sure that something will come up that I will like to try some day. But not yet… not yet. I also like movie quotes.
